ZELL AM SEE – KAPRUN  REGION

This ski region encompasses three mountains. These are: Schmittenhöhe (2000 m a.s.l.), Maiskogel (1675 m a.s.l.) and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier with almost year-round snow guarantee (3025 m a.s.l.).

The Schmittenhöhe, which is called by the locals Schmitten, is located directly above the city of Zell am See. From there you have a wonderful view on the Lake Zeller See and a panorama of over 30 three-thousand meter peaks in the Hohe Tauern. The Schmittenhöhe is popular for beginners as well as for advanced skiers. XXL fun slope on the Schmittenhöhe is one of the largest fun slopes in the world. The Schmittenhöhe is also perfect for night skiing on the red slope No. 6.

The eternal ice on the glacier makes the Kitzsteinhorn a winter paradise almost all year round. With the 3K K-onnection it is possible to reach the summit station on the Kitzsteinhorn (3029 m a.s.l) directly from the center of Kaprun (768 m a.s.l) via the Maiskogel with a 12 km long cable car. At the summit station you are at the highest point in the Salzburg region. Everyone will find the right slope on the glacier. For example, for professionals there is a challenge: the Black Mamba, a grommed slope that is up to 63% steep. This black slope is 1000 meters long and comes 290 meters in altitude. Snowboarders can let off steam in the Glacier Park, Easy Park and Central Park snow parks as well as in the Superpipe.
